Getting the trial running

Update your instance
Install or upgrade to Teampass v3, then open Settings > Extension in the administration area.

Install the extension
From the Chrome, Firefox or Edge store.

Send us two values
Email [email protected] with the FQDN of your instance and its instance token, both shown in that settings screen.

Straight answers
What happens after the free trial?
The extension stops autofilling. Everything stays fully accessible through the Teampass web interface — nothing is lost, nothing is locked.
How are users counted?
By the number of unique accounts that used the browser extension during the month. People who only use the web interface do not count against your pack.
Why doesn't it autofill on every site?
Some sites use non-standard forms, single-page frameworks or fields injected after load, which cannot be detected reliably. On those, autofill and capture can be triggered manually from the extension popup.
Can we move up a pack during the year?
Yes. What you have already paid is deducted pro-rata.
Does the extension see my browsing?
It matches the current domain against your stored items so it knows what to offer. It does not collect browsing history, and nothing is sent to us — see the privacy policy.
Why is it paid when the server is free?
Maintaining an extension across three browsers is continuous work — three review processes and three sets of breaking changes every year. Charging for it funds the open-source server instead of paywalling the server’s own features.

What's new in version 1.8.1
Passkeys signed by your own server, an options page rebuilt around a setup wizard, and one consistent look across every extension screen.
Passkeys
- The extension answers sites' passkey requests; the private key stays in Teampass (server 3.2.3+), which does the signing
- Confirmation in an extension window, verified with the vault PIN or biometrics, and can be turned off in the options
- Coexists with other managers (Bitwarden) and falls back to the browser when Teampass has no passkey for the site
Options and vault settings
- Options page rebuilt: a first-run setup wizard (configuration file, server, account, licence), then a dashboard organised in sections
- Vault settings (PIN, biometrics, auto-lock) are grouped in the options; the popup keeps unlock / lock
- The options page follows the language chosen in the popup
Password generator
- In-page generator aligned with the popup's: passphrases, Generate / History tabs, strength indicator, shared settings
- Every draw uses the browser's cryptographic random generator
- The generator history keeps only what was copied or used
Look and feel
- Theme: Auto (system) / Light / Dark, one setting for every page
- A single indigo palette: popup, options, passkey and confirmation windows, and the elements injected into pages
- Field marker: a “Teampass” pill on the field's border, which no longer covers the text or the “show password” eye
- Form fields harmonised; the “Emoji” icon style is removed
Item cards and dialogs
- Item cards: one main button (Fill), quick copies on hover, the rest in the ⋮ menu
- Click an item's logo to open its website (1.8.1)
- Delete confirmations built into the extension and translated: item, generator history (1.8.1)
- Popup dialogs unified: Esc, click outside, focus handling

Fixes
Sign-in and server
- Refused sign-in: the reason given by the server is shown (password, API key, API disabled) instead of “token expired”
- No more automatic sign-in attempts in a loop after a refusal (risk of locking the account)
- Passkey requests are fast and silent on servers without passkeys
- The extension no longer acts on the pages of the Teampass server itself
Interface
- Custom save: the folder list loads (it stayed on “Loading…”, so saving was impossible)
- Favicon: a default globe instead of Google's blurry icon
- Popup: purple band under short screens, unreadable “Loading…”, dark-mode defects
- Broken “About” link removed from the options
